All the news about our Chapter is in the April 2009 newsletter - The RollCast Events: As many of you know, the Governor recently issued an Executive Order to merge the Departments of Natural Resources and Environmental Quality. Although we support the recombination of the Departments, Michigan Trout Unlimited is greatly concerned with several elements of Executive Order 45. Several items proposed in the Executive Order are not good for natural resources management. Unless pressure is put on the Governor by the legislature to fix it, sound science based natural resources management will be set back decades. To get the rest of the story and how you can help see the full text from Michigan TU. March 23, 2010 - next meeting - program details are still being worked out. (see the Meetings page for details - available soon) WaWaSum was a great weekend - lots of fishing, even some 'catching' and a worthwhile work project at Guide's Rest. Once again, the Perrin Chapter of TU was in charge of staffing the Trout Pond at the Lansing Sport Fishing Show - March 12-15, 2009 It was a wonderful way to spend a few hours introducing kids to fishing, (see some happy young anglers from this year's show ) The last meeting on April 28 was very informative - Jim Bedford gave us lots of locations within about an hour of Lansing to catch trout. Jim spends 100 or more days a year fishing, frequently close to home. Hope you didn't miss the meeting. At our meeting at MUCC on Tuesday February 24, 2009, one of our members, Carl Hueter gave a great presentation on fishing in Argentena - lots of really nice looking fish! Carl also presented our three fund raising activities to celebrate TU's 50th anniversary (see the information at the top of this page). Kristin Nelson from MCTU presented information on stream data collection. Our Chapter will be concentrating on 'water flow' in various streams, including training and field trips. As specific information and dates become known, they will be posted here - check Meetings Page for more information. Dr. Tammy Newcomb, DNR Fisheries Divison spoke about research projects and marking hatchery fish at our January 27 meeting. Tony Pagliei presented the tying of his new "rivet head tubeflies" at our December 2nd meeting. Brad Jensen, the executive director of Huron Pines conservation organization made a presentation at the October 28th meeting regarding their activities - more information is available at Huron Pines website. Bryan Burroughs, executive director of the Michigan Council of Trout Unlimited spoke on the current activities of MCTU. |

The silhouette of a fisherman over a leaping brook trout commemorates Bob Perrin and his favorite species of trout. This logo has been transposed into vinyl bumper stickers and embroidered patches. You can help support your chapter with the purchase of either one of these. The decals will work well on every one of your vehicles and watercraft and the patches should be on your fishing vest and favorite shirts. Print an order form and send it with your check. (Don't forget - you can include an additional donation to help our conservation efforts!) Profits from these sales will be used to create and improve trout habitat in Michigan rivers and streams. |

In November 2003 we honored Frank "Bob" Perrin and renamed our Chapter as the Frank "Bob" Perrin - Lansing, Michigan Chapter of Trout Unlimited

1. Education of our members and the public on important mission issues. 2. Conservation/Improvement of specific cold water habitat watershed projects. 3. Participation in Trout Unlimited meetings and initiatives to legislative reform. 4. Cooperative Fund Raising activities to allow financial grants to be selectively awarded for activities in agreement with the mission. To preserve, protect and restore Michigan's watersheds which support wild trout and salmon. |
